Astragalus - Astragalus Membranaceus 

Astragalus is a widely used herb celebrated for it's immune-stregthening qualities. Astragalus is commonly used for spleen & lung qi deficiency, addressing symptoms like emaciation, weariness, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, diarrhea and prolapse of the uterus or anus.

This versatile herb is particularly useful in strengthening the body against respiratory and heart viral infections by enhancing killer-cell activity and interferon production. Astragalus also possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities, making it a potential snarly treatment for respiratory infections including kennel cough. Additionally it stimulates T cell activity, boosts white blood cell counts, and strengthens the liver, contributing to overall immune support.

In studies with rats, Astragalus saponin constituents were found to enhance DNA synthesis in the liver, fortifying cell structures against infection and toxins. It may also aid in protecting and accelerating recovery from the damaging effects if prolonged steriod therapies. Astragalus strengthens kidney circulation, proving useful in early stages of kidney infection or renal failure.

Add 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of leaves to a cup of hot water and allow to infuse for 2-3 minutes before straining and serving. Ensure the tea has cooled adequately before presenting it to your dog.
